This was a university project that meant getting involved with a chosen community. I chose to investigate the role of Greyhounds in England and later focused on the rehoming of Greyhounds. I became fascinated by the stark differences between the stadiums and races at night and the following mornings at rehoming centers.
Retired Greyhounds are very sleepy, calm animals and I created this piece with that in mind. I put the designs on pillows with the potential that they could be used to raise money for Greyhound rehoming charities.
The following is a design where I wanted to combine the two lives of a Greyhound.
During this project I took a lot of photographs. Photographing the races was incredibly challenging but great fun as well. Walking the retired dogs in the scenic Norfolk countryside was a far calmer alternative.
